Emergency services, supported by East Lothian Council, responded to a fire in a storage warehouse at Eskmills Road/Station Road, Musselburgh, in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The fire was subsequently extinguished.

The road into Eskmills Road and Station Road (from the roundabout near the Tesco supermarket), which had been closed by Police Scotland following the incident, has now reopened.

Although the badly damaged building has been stabilised, members of the public are also asked to stay away while the clean-up process is ongoing.

As a result of debris and in the interests of safety, a cordon will remain in place outside the building, with assessment work continuing to take place.

While the responsibility for securing the site lies with the building’s owner, the council are assisting with the installation of fencing to ensure a safe perimeter is maintained.

The council will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with partner agencies as required.
