A section of the B6415 between Old Craighall and Millerhill will be closed for five days to allow for carriageway repairs to be carried out.
Old Craighall Road will be closed from the Midlothian boundary at Newton Cottages to Old Craighall at the park junction from 8am on Monday, 10 February until 6pm on Friday, 14 February.
Pedestrian access will be maintained for the duration of the works, which are being conducted by East Lothian Council.
The work has been coordinated with Cala Homes and Midlothian Council. Cala, who are currently delivering a new housing development between Old Craighall and Millerhill, plans to utilise the road closure to undertake their own work at the same time.
The Prentice Coaches 111 bus service between Haddington and Edinburgh Royal Infirmary will be diverted during the works. East Lothian Council will provide a taxi service for those who wish to use this bus service over the closure period.
The taxi will run from Old Craighall to Musselburgh Tesco and from Millerhill to Newton Village to link with the 111 bus service at set times.
Reduce any future disruption
The taxi will operate between Old Craighall and Musselburgh Tesco at 6:30am, 9:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 6:30pm, and between Musselburgh Tesco and Old Craighall at 6:45am, 9:45am, 12:45pm, 3:45pm and 6:45pm.
Between Millerhill and Newton Village, the taxi will run at 7:30am, 10:30am, 1:30pm, 4:30pm and 7.30pm, and between Newton Village and Millerhill at 7:40am, 10:40am, 1:40pm, 4:40pm and 7:40pm.
Refuse and recycling collections will be undertaken on the closed section of the B6415 where practical. Residents are asked to please ensure bins or boxes are out for 7am on collection days.
An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause. The Council have coordinated these carriageway repairs with Cala Homes. By carrying out the respective works simultaneously, this will help to reduce any future disruption in the area.
“We are now using www.tellmescotland.govuk to inform the public about major roadworks. This website will also be updated with any changes to the works.”
