Huge congratulations to East Lothian Council Facilities Management colleagues who were finalists at the recent Assist FM Conference.
Carol Godsell, Catering Assistant at Ross High School in Tranent, reached the final of the street food competition for secondary schools.
There was also success for the council’s Special Clean Team, who were finalists in the Outstanding Contribution to Cleaning Services Award.
Carol and members of the Special Clean Team attended the event at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow on 16 May. The conference, the biggest for the industry in Scotland, brings together all local authorities together with speakers and suppliers to showcase a range of products, services and equipment. The awards ceremony also recognises some of the amazing talent working in Facilities Management.
Vanessa Sanal, Service Manager – Facilities, said:
“We are all very proud of Carol and the Special Clean Team for being named as finalists in the Assist FM Conference. This is a fantastic and very well-deserved achievement which recognises their excellence and hard work.
“Across all secondary schools, pupils are looking for food that reflects what is offered on the high street. Carol embraced the opportunity to take on the challenge to produce a tasting sticky chicken full of flavour served with rainbow rice - a dish fit to be sold in food courts which reflects street food.
“The Special Clean Team deliver exceptional services across East Lothian Council covering housing, house clearances and much more.
“The team are respectful and positive, often extending their time to listen and care for those in need whilst carrying out their job to a high standard. They are frequently presented with competing tasks in short timescales. They take pride in preparing residents homes and take great delight in hearing how happy families are when the special clean team have ‘worked their magic’."
