Weather and flood updates for week commencing 8 April 2024.

A Met Office yellow weather warning for heavy rainfall and potential flooding remains in place for the remainder of today and into this evening. River levels are high and some areas are affected by surface water. Our teams are monitoring impacts and carrying out works as required.

The A199 is currently (12.45, 9 April 2024) closed between Abbotsview Roundabout and Amisfield (bridge over the A1) and the B1377 is closed between Longniddry Station Roundabout and the Ballencrieff Roundabout due to surface water and run-off from fields. The A1 off-slip has also been closed east bound at Abbotsview Roundabout. Drivers should avoid those areas.

High tide today is also expected to be larger than that predicted yesterday. Please continue to follow Met Office and SEPA advice and be especially vigilant in coastal areas to keep you and others safe.

Please:

  • Take care on the coast by being aware of high tides and large waves. Even from the shore, large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea. Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard
  • Don’t enter the sea in stormy conditions to keep yourself and others safe
  • If walking in woodland areas, be aware of damage to trees affected by high winds and avoid the area in stormy weather
  • Allow plenty of time for any journeys and drive to the road conditions.

Keep up to date for your area:
