Residents of Blossom House nursing home at Belhaven Hospital have been moved to the East Lothian Community Hospital following a fire safety inspection earlier today.
The decision to move the nine residents has been taken in the interests of safety after the inspection identified the need to review evacuation procedures from Blossom House in the event of an emergency.
It is expected that the residents will remain at the community hospital while options are considered. Families of the residents are being kept updated.
Fiona Wilson, Chief Officer of the East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “The decision to close Blossom House at this time has been taken in the interests of safety following an inspection earlier today. We can assure families that the wellbeing of residents is our top priority and our staff team will continue to provide high-quality care and support within the facilities at the East Lothian Community Hospital.”
