Discover more about recent archaeological projects in south east Scotland
This annual conference, organised by City of Edinburgh Council, East Lothian Council and Scottish Borders Council, provides an important opportunity to hear and discuss firsthand accounts of the archaeological fieldwork and research being undertaken in local areas.
This year's programme includes talks on a wide range of exciting subjects including recent archaeological work at Preston Tower, Prestonpans, new discoveries at the 19th Century Cockenzie Harbour, a late Bronze Age hoard in Peeblesshire and the Holyrood Archaeology Project with excavations at Dunsapie Fort.
A council spokesperson said: “This year’s event is the 21st Archaeology Conference and provides a wealth of information about recent historical research and archaeological excavations and finds in our region. The south-east of Scotland has played a significant role over the centuries as a centre for political, religious and industrial developments including a fair few battles and we are still learning from recent discoveries. The conference will also include discussions around the latest technologies used to gather and record finds.”
The conference is on Saturday 18 November, 9:00am - 4:50pm at Queen Margaret University, Musselburgh and the programme is available to download here.
Tickets cost £30 and an optional buffet lunch is available for £10, but must be booked in advance (by Wednesday 15 November)
