Newly refurbished play area already proving to be a hit!
P7 pupils from Aberlady Primary School joined East Lothian Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing, Cllr Colin McGinn, at the opening of the newly improved and enhanced play area at The Pleasance in Aberlady.
The main focus of the play area features a ‘Pirate Ship’ design that was the overwhelming favourite design chosen by 96% of Aberlady Primary School pupils in a consultation. The design incorporates a cargo net, wobble bridge and slide and is complemented with the addition of other new improved play items including a spinner, 2 springies and new swings plus 2 benches situated within the play area.
Cllr McGinn said: “I’m delighted to be here today and share with local young residents their excitement at the opening of the improved play area in time to enjoy during the upcoming half term break. This is just the first stage of enhancement of The Pleasance play area as further upgrading work has been planned including the installation of bins, picnic bench and fencing and hopefully the planting of new hedging which will be carried out as soon as possible.”
The total cost of the project is around £85,000 which has been fully funded by Developer Contributions with the installation work undertaken in-house by East Lothian Council’s Amenity Services Play Squad.
