Celebrating the unwavering dedication of carers. East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership is proud to join our communities in commemorating Carers Week 5 to 11 June.
East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership is proud to join our communities in commemorating Carers Week 2023, from 5 to 11 June, an annual campaign that recognises the invaluable contributions of unpaid, older and young Carers in our community. East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership is committed to ensuring that Carers receive the recognition, support and resources they need to continue their invaluable work.
This year’s theme is ‘Recognising and Supporting Carers in the Community’ which aims to raise awareness and champion carers from all walks of life, encouraging them to take full advantage of the services available to them. More often than not, wives, husbands, partners, sons, daughters, friends and neighbours provide vital care and support to loved ones, and don’t even recognise themselves as a Carer.
As part of the campaign, East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership will be sharing daily resources on its social media channels. These resources will provide information and links to the support and services available for all carers within East Lothian. Posts will also include personal stories from individuals and colleagues within the Carer support team.
Maria Burton, Strategy Officer of East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership expressed her admiration for Carers and their dedication, saying, “Carers play a vital role in our society and communities, often caring at the expense of their own health and wellbeing. During Carers Week 2023, we want to highlight their extraordinary contributions and extend our heartfelt gratitude to all Carers in East Lothian. We also want to reach out to those who might not yet see themselves as carers as we know that identifying as a Carer can enable access to much needed financial, emotional and practical support.”
Fiona Wilson, Chief Officer of East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership emphasised the importance of supporting Carers and the organisations who in turn support them; “At East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership we recognise the critical role that Carers play in the lives of those they care for. We are dedicated to working collaboratively with Carers and partner organisations to ensure they have the necessary support, information, and are offered respite opportunities to be able to maintain their own health and wellbeing while caring for others.”
East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership is a leading organisation dedicated to improving the well-being and quality of life for the people of East Lothian. We work collaboratively with NHS Lothian, East Lothian Council as well as individuals, families and communities to provide comprehensive services that promote health, independence and social inclusion.
