Situated near Wallyford Primary the new play area is proving to be a popular attraction
A new play area has opened in Wallyford, near to the primary school and it’s already proving to be a popular attraction.
The play area has a range of equipment designed for use by pre-school through to teenagers and the final design was chosen by the pupils of Wallyford Primary School after some considerable discussions!
Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing, Colin McGinn, said: “The new play park is the latest to be installed by East Lothian Council and works continue to upgrade and improve other play areas around the county. The council currently provides, manages and maintains 120 equipped play areas throughout East Lothian and they offer inviting spaces for young people to enjoy informal exercise and meeting friends.
“As the COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease our play areas provide opportunities for children and young people to be outdoors which brings a range of physical and mental health benefits. The council will be prioritising spend on improving and replacing our play areas over the coming years, and we will be engaging with local communities and undertaking wider consultation to help identify and prioritise play areas around the county in need of renewal and improvement works.”
