Proposals for a replacement Whitecraig Primary School are progressing with an initial online consultation event to be held on Friday, 26 November.

Construction of a new school, to replace the existing building nearby, is being supported through the Scottish Government’s Infrastructure Investment Plan.

The new school will include modern teaching facilities in a high-quality learning environment, as well as space for community use.

East Lothian Council is keen to gain feedback on the proposals as an early stage of the planning process. Comments gathered on the recently-published Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) will be used to inform the final planning application, which is expected to be submitted later will also be the subject of a more detailed consultation.

Cabinet Spokesperson for Education and Children’s Services, Councillor Fiona Dugdale, said:

“The new primary school is an exciting development for the Whitecraig community.

“It is the latest in a number of significant school investment projects which will make a real difference for children and young people.

“A significant amount of design work has already taken place and we are looking forward to holding a community consultation event later this month.

“It will be an excellent opportunity for people to see how the plans are taking shape and provide feedback. I would encourage as many people as possible from the local community, including parents and carers, to come along.”
