For many of us, Easter is traditionally a very important time for joining together with friends and family to celebrate, and enjoy the signs of spring around us.

We are all working together at this difficult time and can all contribute by following national guidelines by staying at home, staying safe and protecting our NHS.

This year is very different and we know that there will be many people missing their usual routines and Easter activities.

Essential advice

We are very grateful to all of our residents for following the essential Health and Government advice which is to stay at home. Staying at home protects our NHS and ensures that our vital services can continue and will save lives.

Our staff are continuing to deliver frontline services to the most vulnerable in our communities. Their contribution to the new Children’s Hubs ensures that our keyworkers who had no other childcare options available can go to work knowing that their children are safely cared for and these arrangements continue over the Easter holidays.

Social care teams are working closely with their health colleagues to ensure frontline care services continue safely, and we are working to protect the highest risk members of our community through ‘shielding’ guidelines. Our waste and recycling teams continue to provide services where they can, ensuring that food and household waste, and recycling materials are uplifted.

Thanks

All our staff are working within guidelines to make sure they work in a way that is safe for them and for our communities. We are very grateful to them for their adaptability, resilience and commitment to keeping our services running wherever we can.

Police and East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership staff across the county are working with the safety and welfare of our communities as their highest priority. We are also seeing a huge amount of support and activity being carried out by community groups. It’s heartening to see the resilience being shown by so many volunteers and their commitment to helping residents across the county.

Our teams will continue to work with Community Resilience Groups, charities and other partners to support this effort. We do not underestimate the work involved and send our thanks and appreciation to everyone who is helping their community.

Working together

We are all working together at this difficult time and can all contribute by following national guidelines by staying at home, staying safe and protecting our NHS.

Wishing you, your family and loved ones a safe and peaceful Easter.
