An intergenerational extravaganza inspired by favourite game shows, past and present, will be premiering at The Brunton, Musselburgh, on 11 March.
From Pointless to Would I Lie To You; Family Fortunes to The Generation Game itself. Expect cheesy jingles, catchy songs, general generational knowledge and muddling memory tests in this FREE event for all.
This exciting new project brings together Dramarama (a drama group for the young at heart, based at The Brunton) with the P7s from Stoneyhill Primary School. Created and supported by East Lothian Arts Service Youth Music Initiative team (YMI), the show was devised and directed collaboratively by the award winning Charades Theatre Company and Dramarama.
The project is funded by East Lothian Council’s YMI grant from Creative Scotland.
“Many thanks to the Youth Music Initiative programme managed by East Lothian Council’s Arts Service for providing this creative and fun event for all. Our Area Partnerships are incredibly supportive of intergenerational initiatives in East Lothian. These projects can have a hugely positive effect in helping to reduce loneliness in our communities and are also beneficial for young people in terms of developing their skills and raising their confidence," said Sharon Saunders, Head of Communities and Partnerships, East Lothian Council
“Intergenerational initiatives can be hugely beneficial for many older people living in our local communities, helping to reduce isolation and develop friendships. A big round of applause to Dramarama, Stoneyhill Primary P7s, and Charades Theatre Company for creating such a great event. Many thanks also to YMI East Lothian for coming up with such a creative and fun idea," said Alison Macdonald, Chief Officer, East Lothian Integration Joint Board.
Fiona Macartney, Head Teacher from Stoneyhill Primary School, added: “We are delighted to take part in this valuable project and are very proud of the hard work our P7s have contributed. They had great fun and we are all very much looking forward to testing our wits on the night."
