East Lothian Council unveiled its new 7-seater electric minibus at an event in Prestonpans last week. The minibus will be used to reduce carbon emissions for some home to school transport, and will contribute to quieter, smoother journeys for pupils.

The minibus was unveiled alongside the new Rapid chargepoint in Hawthorn Road Prestonpans as part of an electric vehicle advice roadshow event. The Hawthorn Road chargepoint is one of over 50 new chargepoints being installed across East Lothian this year.

Local residents have been invited to learn more about electric vehicles in a series of events to promote electric vehicles in the county. Invited speakers are available to answer any questions about owning an electric vehicle, including costs, availability of grants and how to use the public chargepoints. In addition both vehicle demonstrations and test drives are also available.

By the end of the year, Rapid chargepoints will be found in every East Lothian town centre, and at strategic points along the main roads, allowing drivers to make a quick top-up in under 30 minutes, while every village which has requested one should have its own 4-hour chargepoint.
