Members of East Lothian Planning Committee met on Tuesday 5th February to decide on an application relating to the former Raceland Go-Karting site at Gladsmuir and a road junction at Dunbar Golf Club.
Planners had recommended the granting of permission for a petrol filling station, drive-through coffee shop and two drive-through fast food restaurants plus associated car parking and landscaping at the former Raceland site at Gladsmuir. Committee members agreed with the planners’ recommendation with the addition of some extra conditions including that construction traffic would only access the site via the A1; the creation of more cycle spaces; the preparation of a waste management strategy for the site and that tourist information on East Lothian would be included on the site.
Planners had also recommended granting of permission for variation of a planning condition regarding a new access junction off the A1087 at Dunbar Golf Club. The condition related to an application to build a new nine hole golf course, clubhouse, golf academy and driving range at Dunbar Golf Club, which was granted in March 2012. The condition related to the visibility of the new junction and the applicant successfully argued that the extent of work was no longer necessary because of the reduction of the speed limit on the road due to the construction of new homes at Bowmont Terrace.
The relevant application numbers are 18/00677/PM for Gladsmuir and 18/01151/PM for Dunbar.
