East Lothian Homecare Services

East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership provides its own care at home service and emergency care service delivered by East Lothian Council employees. 

Homecare Service

East Lothian’s Homecare service is a combined care at home and housing support service, delivering personal care and independent support to residents across East Lothian. 

Services include:

  • personal care: washing, dressing, personal hygiene care
  • meal preparation
  • toileting support
  • assistance with medication, providing reminders and dispensing from blister packs
  • hoists and equipment transfers (double-up care provision required)
  • mental wellbeing / support checks 
  • onward referrals to care services including, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, frozen meals service, social work teams

 

Emergency Care Service 

The Homecare team also provides an Emergency Care Service.   

This service is linked to the Community Alarm / Telecare systems which can be installed in an individual's own home.   

Primarily the Emergency Care Service team respond to community alarm calls, and other contacts, mainly related to falls or requests for urgent care support needs. 

The team additionally provide assistance with rehabilitation support, palliative care and at the request of Social Care Teams can provide in-person welfare checks for individuals perceived to be at potential risk.
