Social care is a term that used to describe forms of personal care and practical assistance for individuals requiring additional support.  The aim of social care is to providing a helping hand to support independent living.

It’s sometimes also called:

  • home support

It may involve regular visits from a support worker and / or a social care support team providing:

  • personal care (free)
  • meal preparation (free)
  • assistance with taking prescribed medication (free)
  • paying bills and assisting with finance management (at planning stage)
     
  • general cleaning, housework or laundy (charged)
  • shopping assistance (charged)
  • frozen meal delivery (charged)
     
  • introducing self-managed technology to support independent living (on request)
  • installing equipment or making housing adaptation to support independent movement around the home (on request)
