Eye care
For any and all issues affecting your eye or eyesight, please contact a local optician practice in the first instance.
Opticians will offer you a triage phone consultation to assess the urgency of your condition and arrange an appointment accordingly.
If you have an urgent eye problem out with normal working hours than cannot wait until an optician opens, you should phone NHS 24 on 111.

Free eye tests
If you are a UK resident, you can get a free NHS eye examination in Scotland.
This is not just to test your sight – it’s a thorough examination to:
- check the health of your eyes
- find any eye problems before they become more serious
- look for signs of other health problems.
You can book an eye test at your nearest opticians.
