Nursery admissions criteria
We allocate funded places on a priority system. This is listed below.
Some children will be eligible for funded hours from age 2 (known as Eligible 2s). Those children will be given priority from aged 3 to remain in that setting for their ante and pre-school years.
Priority system 1-6
- Children resident in East Lothian who have been agreed through East Lothian Council’s exceptional needs process as requiring significant additional support to enable them to reach their full potential.
- Children resident in East Lothian who have been agreed through East Lothian Council’s exceptional needs process as requiring a retained year (i.e. children of statutory school age who are given an additional year of Early Learning and Childcare).
- Children resident in East Lothian who have deferred entry to Primary School agreed.
- Children resident in East Lothian in their pre-school year in order of their birth date, oldest first.
- Children resident in East Lothian who have reached their third birthday and are born within the dates of eligibility below, in order of their birth date, oldest first.
- Eligible children who are not resident in East Lothian.
