UK General Election Results - 4 July 2024
A UK Parliamentary General Election was called for Thursday 4 July 2024.
The voting system for the UK Parliamentary General Election is the First Past the Post system. To become a Member of the UK Parliament (MP) in Westminster a candidate simply has to win more votes than any other candidate standing in a particular constituency.
Electors in East Lothian vote for an MP to represent the Lothian East Constituency.
Results of the election are as follows:
- Douglas Alexander, Labour and Co-operative Party - 23,555
- Robert Davies, Reform UK - 3,039
- Duncan Dunlop, Scottish Liberal Democrats - 2,649
- Scott Hamilton, Scottish Conservative and Unionist - 5,535
- Lyn Jardine, Scottish National Party - 10,290
- George Kerevan, Alba Party - 557
- Shona McIntosh, Scottish Greens - 2,477
Douglas Alexander is elected Member of Parliament for the Lothian East constituency.
Electorate - 75,456
Turnout was 63.9%
Total votes cast - 48,234
Ballot papers rejected - 132
