The key dates for this election are:
15/16 March - poll cards sent out (ERO)
14/19 April - issue of postal votes
18 April - last day to register on the electoral register (ERO)
19 April - last day to apply for a postal vote or postal proxy application (ERO)
19 April - last day to amend/cancel an existing postal or proxy application (ERO)
26 April - final issue of postal votes
26 April - last day for new proxy vote applications (except for emergencies) (ERO)
Polling Day 5 May
5pm - deadline for emergency proxy applications (ERO)
10pm - deadline for issuing replacements for spoilt or lost postal votes (RO)
Count 6 May
The count for this by-election is carried out electronically. Only specific categories of people are allowed to attend the count, i.e. candidates/agents/invited guests – it is NOT open to the general public.
