What happens after my appointment
The Registrar will publish details on the list of intended marriages that is displayed in a prominent location in the registration office
For Civil Marriages
Your Marriage schedule will be kept by the Registrar and you will sign it on the day of your Wedding along with your witnesses. The Celebrant conducting your ceremony will keep your schedule and will return it to the Registration office so that your marriage can be registered.
After your marriage has been Registered a Marriage Certificate will be prepared and either sent out to you in the post or made available for collection depending on what you asked for at the time of your appointment.
For Religious and other belief system marriages
You will be issued with your schedule if your wedding is due to take place within 7 days. If this is not the case you will be given an appointment time to come back and collect your schedule from the office at which you give notice of your marriage. (You must do this in person and not send a friend/relative).
After your marriage you will require to return the signed schedule to the office from which you collected your schedule. Your Marriage will then be Registered and a Marriage Certificate will be prepared and either sent out to you in the post or made available for collection depending on what you asked for at the time of your appointment.
