Get Connected event 2017
'Being different brings people together'
- Angus Langlands, the first Scottish Youth Parliament Member with an additional support need and Get Connected guest speaker.
A 'Get Connected' breakfast was held in May 2017. The event helped in raise the profile of Get Connected, identified a range of Get Connected Champions and the range of areas that need to be addressed to achieve real participation and inclusion.
Guest Speakers and Q&A's included, Sharon Saunders (Head of Children Services), Shamin Akhtar (Cabinet Spokesperson for Education and Children's Services), Martin Donkin (In Control), Lesley Crozier, (Equality Officer), Lauren Ritchie ('Get Connected' Information Officer) and Angus Langlands (Scottish Youth Parliament).
Nearly 100 parents, activity providers and council representatives attended and took the opportunity to discuss inclusion.
