Active Schools
We want to open doors and make sure every child has the opportunity to try as many activities as possible and find activities that they love and enjoy.
Active Schools is a joint initiative between East Lothian council and Sport Scotland. The team’s main aim is to offer school aged children the motivation and opportunities to adopt active, healthy lifestyles throughout their school years.
A priority for the team is to engage with children and young people who may experience barriers to participation and support their inclusion in activity. They work closely with council colleagues and partners to connect with a number of target minority groups in particular families on low income, disabled pupils, looked after children and girls.
“We aspire to use our targeted programmes to engage with every aspect of our community, making all feel welcome, valued and included.”
