The Learning Disability Service provides a unique service that incorporates social work, health services and community resources. This service provides supports to adults with a learning disability and works closely with carers and support providers to offer advice and training.
The role of the Social Work Service is complete holistic assessments of need and risk to ensure that people have the right support to be safe in the community and live the life they choose. The unpaid carer is all entitled to an assessment based on their own needs.
Our Community Resources include three day services which are based in Musselburgh, Port Seton and Haddington. In addition to buildings based supports there are a number of community groups based throughout East Lothian. Shared Lives is an Adult Placement Service which offers long term care, short breaks and day services.
The Community Learning Disability Team is a health team which includes Dieticians, Community Nurses, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry, Speech and Language Therapy. The Health professionals provide assessment, treatment and interventions, training and advice and support.
